STATUS 3/13/2020:

Due to the Covid-19 (coronavirus) situation, New Mexico Legal Aid offices are TEMPORARILY closed to the public EXCEPT BY APPOINTMENT.

We encourage everyone to access our services by phone or online as they are available. See below for dates of specific closures.

If you have an in-person appointment and wish it to be by phone, please contact your advocate. Call 1-866-416-1922 & select option 3 if you need to find out how to contact your advocate.

As of now, all courts are still hearing cases as scheduled. Check www.nmcourts.gov for updates from the court.

Remember to wash your hands frequently and follow all other hygiene recommendations being issued by state and federal health officials.

If you are sick and need to cancel an appointment, do so.

We are working with local and state officials to manage this situation and seek all available remedies for the clients we serve.

Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Stalking Legal Helpline

The Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Stalking legal helpline IS still accepting calls during the COVID-19 crisis.

The legal helpline is opened Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM to assist victims of domestic abuse, sexual assault and stalking with legal issues they are facing.

(CAUTION! Please call the Helpline only from a phone or an email address that is safe and private. Do not use a phone that anyone other than you or a trusted friend may have access to.)

Safe To Be You

Safe To Be You! project partners have joined together to make sure LGBTQ+ survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence and stalking can access civil legal assistance wherever they are in New Mexico. Project staff are dedicated to providing free civil legal services – legal advice, referrals and/or full attorney representation in court – to address the broad range of legal needs within the LGBTQ+ community.

NM Crime Victims Legal Assistance Program

New Mexico Legal Aid has partnered with the New Mexico Crime Victims Reparation Commission to create a NM Crime Victims Legal Assistance Program

This new program offers advocacy and legal assistance to victims of crime throughout NM.

We can assists victims of elder abuse, robbery and burglary, DUI/DWI incidents, identity theft and fraud, child abuse, domestic abuse, sexual assault, and more.
